This week I rearranged the shelf in my office. It's not a bit deal but I do like the rolls of paper and sheet metal and extra light bulbs stacked in a clear box. The silver and gold mimic the metals I use in my jewelry shop and those little white boxes hold all my odds and ends.
My goal for this weekend is to get caught up on emails, shop orders and get a post published about our time in Copenhagen. Part of me almost wants to avoid it because I know I will only miss it more, looking at the photos. But there's so many things I want to share about where we went, I promise I'll get it together soon!
Until then, I hope you have a nice weekend. A relaxing one!
I mentioned that I spent most of last week feeling very sick. Nothing kills ideas and inspiration like laying in bed feeling miserable. Sunday night, after 4 days in bed, I had had enough. I cleaned up my bedroom and took out some of my favorite magazines. It's simple but I put together a bit of a collage of things I like right now. Sofas from Bolia, green young plants, breezy light filled windows and bold type.
It was just what I needed to shake off being sick and start a new week.
Finally I've got some photos from out trip together for you. Only took a few weeks!
I'm just going to start at the beginning and work my way through so this will be broken up into 3 or 4 parts.
We arrived in Stockholm later in the evening. My husband and I encountered several obstacles, the biggest of them being that our iPhones stopped working once we left the US. No more Internet, texting or calling. All we could do was take pictures and pick up the occasional free wifi in cafes & such. That really slowed us down because we had to use a paper map to navigate. It felt like we had gone back in time 10 years! So we spent our first evening looking for our hotel and finding dinner so I don't have a lot of great photos from the first couple days, mostly a bit of the clean parts of our room from the next morning. If you followed me on Instagram, some of this may look familiar.
The Story Hotel is where we decided to book our first night. It was in a great central location close to so much and we had several recommendations for this place from friends & fellow bloggers, including my contributor Deborah. Story has a really great restaurant and bar downstairs as well so we ended up ordering from their menu and eating dinner in our room, a cheeseburger and the fish & chips. All was really delicious and fast and since we were so tired from 17+ hrs of traveling, it was so nice to eat, relax and watch tv.
The next morning we had to head right back to the airport to fly to Copenhagen so we had (free) breakfast there at the hotel (a very good one at that!) and walked back to the station. On our way however we passed so many great stores including COS, which is one of my all time favorite places. This store in particular was right on the corner so you could see quite a bit from the outside, two levels of beautifully simple things. There's something so calming about shopping here, it's not overwhelming and yet every little corner, table and shelf held something really special. I could have spent all morning just here, looking at jewelry and shoes and little leather bags.
I've been very sick for the past week but thankfully today it seems I'm getting better, soooo I should have the rest of our trip photos edited and posted in not too long.
Have a great week everyone!
One of the things I already miss about being in Denmark & Sweden are the old, deep window ledges in the homes and buildings. I can squeeze a couple small things on ours, but it's just not the same.
I made this concrete pyramid last year & keep forgetting to write up a DIY tutorial for it. Maybe someday I'll get around to it...
A bit ago Viktoria contacted me about her shop and illustrations. I instantly fell for the butterfly & crystal prints! Both are versatile prints and I like that they can fit with several different styles. She also has some great feather & skull prints that I like just as much (it's hard to choose).
You can see more of her archival prints, iphone skins & more right here & here!
The week has gone by so quickly & I can't believe tomorrow is Friday. The weather is warming up a bit and I think I'll be sorting through Winter clothes this weekend, packing them away for the Summer. Israel got a new bike this week so I'm sure we will also be outside playing quite a bit!
I hope you all have nice plans for the weekend, even if it is something as simple as enjoying the sun and a bit of warmth.
I still have a lot of trip photos to edit and post for you soon but here are a few things we brought back. Denmark had so many great magazines, notebooks and tempting paper products in general. While at Hay House in Copenhagen, my husband got this notebook & I this rubber band ball. We also visited the Playtype concept store where I had to get this notebook I had been eying and even mentioned in this wishlist.
Speaking of paper, I should mention that Vista Print is a great resource for custom printed material and they offer discount coupons as well which is always helpful.
