I painted the wall above our desk with chalkboard paint. It was a disappointment
initially, I taped off and dry brushed but those darn textured walls. I ended up
with messy, leaky edges. So, to avoid a repeat of this, I measured 1/4" all around
the rectangle, and filled it in by hand with a small brush. As you can see, I
haven't finished the bottom edge yet, tonight though. Probably, maybe I will.
All those cords have got to find a way to get organized too!
A couple more gifts my husband received for his birthday. I guess birthdays are
sort of a big deal around here. I'm a planner so I start buying little things
a month in advance. A pack of playing cards and a vintage Swivelier clamp lamp. He likes them.

Does anyone else iron tea towels, that's not weird, right? They always come out of the dryer so wrinkly, how could I not?

I just love chalkboard, i have 3 bedrooms at home with some chalkboard, and before that i used to keep all the posts i see to make diy with it. So i have posted it on my blog with reference to yours... i couldn´t resist....
ReplyDeleteYour room looks great, even with a unruly bottom chalkboard border ;)
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find the fabulous playing cards? I've been wanting a set since I first heard about them!
I iron my tea towels too, it drives me mad when the edges come out all weird!
ReplyDeleteit looks good! And I don't iron my towels.. but I do iron sheets & pillow cases. I can't stand aleeping on wrinkles!
ReplyDeleteYour room looks very good and organized : ) .
ReplyDeletelove the chalkboard wall! chalkboard paint is so cool. :) thanks for inspiring mine to use some in my own home soon, too!
ReplyDeleteI love your office. I could easily work away there.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great :)
ReplyDeleteI have been meaning to stop in and tell you that I am still keeping up with you and checking up on you and your boys---and your house!
All looks well!
best,
Jillian
Your chalkboard looks great! There is nothing with ironing teatowels, it's everyone else that doesn't that has a problem, we teatowel ironers are perfectly normal!
ReplyDeletejenn! it looks so rad!!
ReplyDeletei painted my bedroom door last night with chalkboard paint...so pleased with the outcome!
your space is so inspiring..i can't get enough! :)
btw..those cookies?! GONE. thank you!!!
j.
Your chalkboard and workspace looks great.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I iron my tea towels too and sometimes even pillowcases. They just get ridiculously wrinkly. Totally not weird.
Love your blog!
Looks great Jennifer! I saw some more pics of your room on I art u, and really like what you've done...so spotlessly tidy! Puts my mess to shame. I don't iron tea towels, but that's because I don't have any that are worthy of an iron! I love yours....where did the triangle one come from?
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea! really love it... and that organization! amazing!
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's so funny, I was just thinking last night that I want to steam my wrinkly tea towels! Not weird at all. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love how much of style comes through all of your home. You're an excellent editor!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you come up with for the cords so I can, um, borrow it...
ReplyDeleteBlack and white, wood, the chalkboard and the Eames chairs... looks great, just my style!
ReplyDeletethis office space is so amazing. its pretty much exactly what I would want, but alas, we have concrete walls above where our desks are so our chalkboard/white boards are stick on or velcroed to the wall.
ReplyDeleteTotally in love with the tea towels and I second the request about where the triangle one came from. I totally wish I had time to iron my tea towels. Or at least my bedding :(
This looks great!
ReplyDeleteWe have a wall in our dining room that is already black that we were thinking of painting with chalkboard paint.
Do you have any trouble writing on it with textured walls?
We've been waiting to try out the chalkboard paint because my husband thinks we won't be able to write on it if the wall is textured.
I love tea towels. I also LOVE that DIY chalkboard area...looks EXCELLENT.
ReplyDeletesuper fab! now you have a great place to write notes where you def won't miss them
ReplyDeletethe room looks fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteand if i had your collection of killer tea towels, i'd iron them too. ;-)
happy weekend
Do you mind asking where you got your desk? I'm looking for a similar desk that my boyfriend and I can both share (since we only have a small space for a "home office") and that one seems to be the perfect length! Most tables I've been looking at are too short to fit both of us comfortably.
ReplyDeleteLove the whole desk area set up.. so organized and pretty! Looks like a calming space to work in.
ReplyDeleteFYI - here's how to get a nice, even line when painting. :)

Oh, and I also need to know more about your desk. :) We are currently living with a temporary solution, but it looks like our dimensions are about the same as yours.
ReplyDeleteit looks really great! maybe i need a chalkboard wall.
ReplyDeletealso, YES i iron my tea towels.
Cool project! No tea towel ironing here. I don't have the patience...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful working space you have! We are planning a chalkboard wall for Landon, thanks for the tips!
ReplyDeletelove it. Well done. I always have to come back in with a brush and clean up my edges. I don't think the tape ever gets the job done. Looks fantastic! xo
ReplyDeletethis is BEAUTIFUL. and i love that you iron tea towels. so sweet and made me smile. :)
ReplyDeleteyessss! we wanna know where that desk comes from. I've been looking for one for aaaages and can't find something decent.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking office!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind, where did you get the digital clock at the right end of the shelf near the clamp light?
Keep up the great posts. :)
Great office!
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the LCD clock next to the clamp light? Keep up the great work. :)
your room looks like something out of a magazine!
ReplyDeletehehe I iron everything, since we don't own a dryer every piece of clothes gets wrinkled from hanging outside. (at first it was a chore I disliked to say the least, now I don't even think it's a big deal)
I didnt check to see if anyone else had commented this- but i had the same problem when painting a textured wall. Of course, 5 minutes later i learned that you are supposed to first paint the edges of the tape with the color of your wall (white) and that color bleeds and then you paint the color you want (chalk board black) it doesn't bleed under bc the white already filled those spots where it would have. maybe that will help in the future :)
